Mission Vacation - Road Trip Style

Your Mission: To successfully cross TWELVE states (Georgia, South Carolina, North Carolina, Virginia, Maryland, Delaware, New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Massachusetts, New Hampshire, and Maine) – and enjoy them - in ten days.

Your Tools: 2005 Buick Rainier, fully loaded (with crap); multiple bags, suitcases, and coolers; all-weather attire for the warm autumn days in the southern US to the frigid, and possibly snowy days in the upper east coast; an appetite for low country/metro-casual/Americana/lobstertastic/seafarin’ fare; an open mind and the desire to jump in and try something new; good, comfortable shoes for mass amounts of walking; loads of cash for unnecessary splurges (“I Love Maine” bumper stickers anyone) and necessary essentials (OMG we forgot toothpaste!); and sunglasses, because it’s going to be FANTASTICALLY sunny and beautiful the entire time!

And this is how we settled into planning our much awaited east coast road trip. In just twelve short days we will leave the daily grind and escape on our first 'just us' vacation since the year we got married. We began planning the trip in October of LAST year, so you can only imagine how excited we are to be less than two weeks away from lift off!

For those of you who don't see me everyday and haven't received the memorized breakdown of my itinerary, allow me to indulge you:

We're leaving the morning of Saturday, October 10 and driving from Alphaland to Washington, D.C. We'll spend a day sightseeing around the capital, and head out Monday morning towards Boston, where we'll stay the night. Tuesday allows some time to tour Boston before heading out to our ultimate destination - Deer Isle in Stonington, Maine - where we'll spend five days exploring and relaxing in Acadia National Park. On the trek home, we'll spend a day in Philly before heading back home. Lots to do and see, and we just can't wait!

Signing off at 12 days, 8 hours, 55 minutes and 46 seconds... Nite!
