Once in Maine, it was non-stop picture taking for about 300 miles. I can't even begin to describe how beautiful this is (and very soon you will be able to see for yourself because I finally found a connection where I can upload pics!!!!).
Around 7 p.m. we found the 'elusive lobster' at Papa J's and the Lobster Bar in Belfast. Papa J's is probably one of the coolest restaurants we've ever seen, and we've been to some pretty cool places. The entire place is dark, candlelit mostly with a few lamps, and there are pictures and empty wine bottles that customers sign all over the place. The men's and women's bathrooms have posters of the oppositve sex plastered all over (thank you Papa J for that one of Johnny Depp). It's a total dive, a beautiful, wonderful, 'best kept secret' kind of dive.
As some of you know, I am a "lobster-virgin", and Ronnie wasted no time telling our waitress that. She almost passed out, like, "never???" Yeah, ok, I'm sheltered.
So she brings this lobster, which terrifies me. Literally. I mean, I've seen lobsters obviously, but I've never had one sat down in front of me, looking up with its beady little eyes saying, 'Eat me please!' So then she hands me this nutcracker and a stick and a bib. Oh my....
Ronnie video'd the whole thing, which we'll post after breakfast. It was HILARIOUS. I successfully ate a claw and a little bit of the tail. I can't say I 'loved' it, but I didn't hate it. At the end I ate the steak we ordered instead and the turtle cheesecake (of course!).
We made it to Deer Isle around 10 p.m. last night after a 2 hour drive through the dark, cold wilderness! The entire island was quiet and there was no one around, so we unloaded our luggage as quietly as possible and went to bed. We couldn't see what was around us or what our window overlooked. And then this morning came...
And now it's breakfast time, so you'll have to wait for the pics! ;)
